2026 Whale Feeders: Thomas Jackson, Jocelyn Leclair, Peyton Sablan, Isaiah Jackson

We are proud to honor our students from Quileute Tribal School who will carry forward an important role in the 19th Annual Welcoming the Whales celebration. These students have been selected to serve as this year’s whale feeders, the ones who will feed the whales during the ceremony in this special tradition.

Our culture program uses an intentional interview process designed to elevate student voice while ensuring this opportunity reflects the values of our community and honors our commitment to Indigenous education rooted in culture, tradition, and community. Our Culture Teacher, Charlotte Penn, Councilwoman and School Board Member Stephanie Calderon, and our event Master of Ceremonies, Randy “Woo” Eastman Jr., met with each student and asked thoughtful questions centered on Native education, cultural knowledge, and the importance of tradition. Through this process, the students demonstrated pride, respect, and a strong connection to who they are and where they come from.

Please join us in recognizing the students who will represent our school and community:

Freshman: Thomas Williams-Penn

Sophomore: Peyton Sablan

Junior: Jocelyn LeClair

Senior: Isaiah Jackson

We are honored to see our students step into these roles, carrying forward the teachings of our people and representing QTS with pride.

Congratulations to each of you. We are proud of you!

Join us on April 10, 2026, for the 19th Annual Welcoming the Whales as we come together in culture, community, and tradition.
